Issam Harmouch, DHA

Issam Harmouch, D.H.A. serves as the Practice Administrator of Ophthalmology Associates of San Antonio bringing nearly a decade of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, patient experience, financial management, and healthcare innovation.

Before joining Ophthalmology Associates of San Antonio, Issam spent six years in dermatology, overseeing operations for twenty clinics across major metropolitan markets-including Houston, Dallas, and Austin- as well as rural communities across Texas. His leadership in this multi-regional role strengthened his expertise in practice management, operational scalability, and service excellence across diverse patient populations.

Issam received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Texas at Arlington. He further pursued advanced studies in healthcare administration, completing his Master’s and Doctorate in Healthcare Administration at Walden University. His published doctoral research focuses on improving patient quality care and healthcare outcomes through enhanced physician and organizational compliance through the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).

Beyond his administrative leadership, Issam is an active contributor to the ophthalmic healthcare administration community. He is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA), where he currently serves on both the Education Committee and the Administrative Eye magazine editorial committee. In these roles, he helps develop and present webinars, podcasts, and roundtable discussions for ophthalmic industry leaders. Furthermore, Issam is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), further reflecting his commitment to ongoing professional development and industry advancement.

Issam and his family relocated to San Antonio two years ago and are proud to be a part of a historic practice that shares the rich traditions it serves. Outside of his professional work, Issam enjoys spending quality time with his wife and daughter. He is passionate about the outdoors, hiking, exploring new foods and coffee, traveling domestically and internationally, and appreciating exotic cars.
