Two new treatments for macular degeneration and glaucoma, now available at Ophthalmology Associates of San Antonio.

Dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of vision loss in people over 65. For years, care meant monitoring and vitamins. Valeda is a non-invasive light therapy, FDA-authorized in 2024, that delivers targeted red, amber, and near-infrared light to the retina to support the health of retinal cells.
What to expect:
4 minutes per eye.
Painless. You sit comfortably at the device, with no injections and no surgery.
A series of sessions over several weeks, with follow-up treatment cycles
Valeda is for early to intermediate dry AMD. It is not a cure, and it is not a treatment for wet AMD.
Lowering eye pressure is the main way glaucoma is treated. Voyager DSLT is a laser that helps the eye drain fluid more effectively, lowering pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. Automated eye tracking delivers 120 laser pulses in about 2.4 seconds per eye, with no contact lens and no touching the eye.
2.4 seconds per eye
Contact-free comfort
Covered by most insurance plans and Medicare
First practice in San Antonio to offer it
In a clinical trial, 62% of patients treated with Voyager DSLT were free of glaucoma medication 12 months later.

Our team can help you find out whether Valeda or Voyager DSLT is right for you.
